Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

We use Draftsight to produce working construction drawings for our HVAC works including ventilation, drainage, pipework and controls.

From these drawings we develop them throughout the construction process and then provide them as “as installed” drawing to our clients on completion.

We find Draftsight provide a great alternative to the mainstream 2D CAD software products available at a reasonable price.
  • Repetition of items with great built in tools.
  • Does everything a “basic” user requires without the big price stamp.
  • Exports drawings in to other formats i.e PDF very easily with lots of options of making your exported document to look just how you would like it to look.
  • Can be a bit glitchy at times, for example when selecting multiple items they can all of a sudden all unselect.
  • Cross compatibility with other software can sometime be an issue. For example when drawings are provided to us by others that are drawn on other platforms.
  • I would like to account options to add additional users on our account made easier.
  • Has provided an easy way for us to do in house drawings without the need to outsource.
  • Has saved time as we are able to produce drawings for our clients quickly when required to do so.
  • Has enabled us to produce a more professional package.
I have not used any other similar products like Draftsight in order to provide a true comparison. I have only briefly used AutoCAD, but found I could do most things with Draftsight that I need to do and didn’t see the need for the very expensive alternative.
I believe that in the construction industry Draftsight provides an amazing user interface and overall experience that’s covers all of the bases. Not being a frequent or trained CAD technician I couldn’t comment on the more complex features and how they would be suited to more advanced users, however, for myself and our business Draftsight fits our requirements perfectly.
