Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight
We use for nesting plasma burns or editing DXFs produced by SOLIDWORKS. For these 2D applications, it is much quicker to do these tasks in DraftSight than in SOLIDWORKS. The two programs compliment eachother in my opinion.
Pros
- 2D layouts
- Layered drawings
Cons
- The "Welcome" screen always apears on open, and can't be disabled.
- Would be helpful to have custom "Save As" defaults depending on what file type is open (eg. DXF or DWG).
- Increased productivity for 2D drawing editing
- Ability to open old legacy drawings and edit for import to 3D
Draftsight is a Solid 2D editor. It does 2D easier than programs made for 3D.
