Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

Our engineering department uses this for electrical and mechanical design. We don't do a lot of design work, so the performance and cost of the package are a good fit for us.

Pros

  • Common commands/keystrokes.
  • Good value.
  • Easy to use.

Cons

  • More YouTube how-to videos.
  • I would like more electrical control panel design tools.
  • It allows us to accomplish basic mechanical and electrical design in house without hiring consultants.
I think TurboCAD and DraftSight would both work well for me. I started using DraftSight when it was free and found that it was a useful tool so I transitioned to a paid license.
It works well for our needs - cost/performance is right where we hoped it would be.
