Overall Satisfaction with Duo Security

We have implemented Duo Security for all our employee, internet-facing applications. Multi-factor authentication is a necessity in the current world. At the moment we have the ADFS integration running smoothly. Duo has been integrated into the VPN solution and on our enterprise password manager, all to great satisfaction of the admins and the users.
  • User acceptance is excellent through easy to use "approve" button
  • The Apple Watch app makes is easy at home to approve logins without having your phone in your hand
  • Syncing AD users means user provisioning is automatic
  • Price is relatively high
  • Apple Watch notification is noticeably slower than the Azure MFA equivalent. Still very useable, but slower
  • Duo Security MFA means a lot more protection for user accounts. This has undoubtedly prevented account compromise.
  • Doing the second factor on your phone or watch only takes a couple of seconds. This has no noticeable impact on productivity.
We haven't needed support from Duo for a lot of things as the setup was easy. For the few times we did need it, support was quick and correct. For someone with a bit of tech knowledge, it is easy to troubleshoot any issues. We've had to correct issues ourselves a couple of times.
At the time of purchasing, Azure MFA was not supported well for the applications we use. As this was quite some time ago, we will do a review probably next year to see if Azure MFA could be the successor (and cheaper) to Duo Security.
You really need MFA for your company! Support in many applications for Duo Security is excellent so if you have a lot of applications, Duo is the way to go. If you need basic MFA, like for Office 365, many times it already has built-in support for some form of MFA. Duo would be too pricey for such situations.
