Overall Satisfaction with Duo Security

As a PM consultant, Duo Security is used with various clients for MFA to email clients and other various systems for security. Most clients have deployed it across the whole organization. It simplifies secure access to controlled resources and is easy to deploy for all types of users- employees, contractors, etc.

Pros

  • Easy to deploy.
  • Simplified integration with other apps.
  • Easy to use and learn.
  • Can utilize without smartphone.

Cons

  • Interface is a bit clunky.
  • Lacking in functionality for desktop.
  • Issues with timing/time delays in getting code.
  • Easy to license for a smaller amount and for more simple use cases.
  • Meets security and compliance requirements.
As an end user, it is easy to utilize. It does not have the best UI out of its competitors. As a user, I use multiple different authentication applications, and this one stands in the middle of the pack.
N/A... meets compliance requirements, but not proven in preventing data breach.
I have not had to utilize Duo Security's support team. Have not lost device or needed to configure new device after losing a device.

Duo is a simple tool and has a lightweight deployment for MFA use cases. It was selected for our client company due to its ease of use.
Zoom, Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), Zoho Projects
Duo Security is not the best tool for MFA and secured access out there with many competitors that have a lot more to offer for functionality. It is great for deployment for more simple use cases. It is not suited for desktop authentication and their passwordless solution is not truly passwordless.
