Overall Satisfaction with Duo Security

Duo Security is used by our organization as a multi-factor authentication tool for logging in to our workstations as well as logging in to apps that have SAML capability. This addresses a large security issue for a mobile workforce. Having a computer lost or stolen isn't quite as bad if the desktop cannot be accessed.
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to implement
  • User friendly
  • Some users don't like using their phones for work purposes.
  • Replacing a phone can be tricky at times.
  • Installing on Mac is more difficult.
  • Computers are more secure.
  • Applications can't be brute force attacked.
  • Easily syncs with Active Directory.
In an Active Directory environment, Duo Security is very easy to configure and use. Once the user is put in the right Security Group, it syncs to the Duo console. Once you send the enrollment email and the user accepts it, then you can install the software and use it right away.
Our organization has used Duo Security as a way to verify any of our employee's identities when they are logging in to their computer or to any of their cloud-based applications that support it. Having this extra form of security is key to our organization and keeping our data secure.
Any time I have had to reach out to the Duo Security support team, I have gotten a quick response. Any time I have had issues with the support I'm receiving, my ticket is escalated and handled in a timely manner. Customer Service has been very good to work with when needed.
During implementation, there was a glitch with our Active Directory sync that required Customer Service support. We placed the call and within the hour, received a callback. The technician was given the information, and within 4 hours, we had our issue resolved and our Active Directory sync was working as it was supposed to.
Duo Security has the ability to push a notification to your device where a simple Google Authenticator requires a rotating series of numbers. Duo also has the ability to use a yubikey to use biometrics as another form of authentication. The ability to use Duo to protect Windows login is a large benefit as well.
Duo Security is well suited for a very mobile workforce. If you are traveling or are consistently working outside of a normal office environment, then having a desktop version of multi-factor authentication is a great security tool. Duo Security would be less useful if you are not mobile and work from a desk all of the time. It would still be useful as an application multi-factor authentication tool.
