Overall Satisfaction with F5 BIG-IP
We use that for the application load balancing all the traffic coming in from the outside. We actually make sure the traffic is routed to different servers internally. We use BIG-IP in between that does the load balancing part of it.
Pros
- I mean from a basic level, it actually satisfies all the use cases we have, which is basically to have multiple web servers for the front end and then you want that to be equally split across. The traffic comes in from all over the world. We use DRA protection and everything, but then we also internally want to make sure all the servers are being utilized and we provide much more availability across all servers. We just make sure BIG-IP sits in between and handles the traffic accordingly. And it's pretty basic and it comes to drawing traffic. It's pretty easy to configure and set it up and then forget.
Cons
- I would say the UI, the user interface. I think after the acquisition or something from F5, I think we haven't seen a lot of changes or anything.
- I haven't seen a roadmap discussion around here is where BIG-IP is and here is where it's going to be this year, next year and going forward. We'd love to see that discussion from an account management perspective.
- I would say from a security perspective, because I manage security, availability is sort of the key area for us and making sure that is properly handled through BIG-IP, that is the biggest business success, I would say from the product perspective.
