Overall Satisfaction with Google Cloud Speech-to-Text

We make use of Google Cloud Speech-to-Text as an integration to convert speech into text in our bot flow for real-time recognition of customer spoken audio for a live call. We make use of transcribed phrases to enable the voice of our native chatbots by sending the transcribed customer's utterances to the chatbot & then have the chatbot replay the same to the customer using the Google STT engine.

Pros

  • Multiple language support.
  • Speech to text conversion is extremely accurate.
  • Handling of busy surroundings without a need to have additional noise cancellation.
  • Very easy to integrate with third party self service solutions.

Cons

  • Doesn't work well with low bandwidth connections.
  • Pricing is a bit on a higher side.
  • Ability to support real-time transcription of multiple languages & hence reduced dependency on multiple STT engines.
  • Increased overall calls transcription accuracy.
  • Increased overall productivity for Quality team because of accuracy of STT engine to recognize words & phrases.
Its extremely easy setup & configuration make the whole experience very effortless. We use it as the external STT engine to integrate with our chatbots & the integration process is very well documented & easy to go through. By combining our voice bot solutions & Google Cloud Speech-to-Text engine, we are able to take advantage of applying our custom speech models.
We make use of Google Cloud Speech-to-Text as an addon integration for real-time recognition of customer's utterances & then supply that to the chatbot. We then using an audio prompt to playback the captured utterances using a text to speech engine.

We have used it extensively in our chatbots for handling web chats & we see a very positive outcome as it accurately converts speech to text. The fact that it supports more than 125 languages does come in very handy for our contact center operations. Overall, it is best suited for any use case that needs converting an enormous amount of speech into text in real-time.
