Overall Satisfaction with Google Compute Engine

We use Google Compute Engine to host websites and APIs for small businesses. It lets us adjust resources based on how much traffic our clients get, making sure their sites and apps run smoothly without them needing to deal with server management. We pick different types of virtual machines depending on what each client needs, e.g a simple blog or an online store.
  • Easy to scale
  • Transparant costs
  • Wide range of services
  • Feature parity with AWS
  • Improved security tools
  • Ability to spin up dev environments easily as required
  • Quicker time to market for new products
Performance is adequate and we've not noticed any issues regardless of the tasks we carry out.
The uptime of our services on Google Compute Engine (GCE) has been satisfactory and exceeds the service level agreements we have. Documentation for the service provides detail on expected or known errors for troubleshooting if required. We haven't experienced any issues with lack of availability so not able to comment on support during outages.
  • Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
The features specific to Google Compute Engine vs Amazon EC2 along with cost and availability are comparable, there may be other services within the vendor which may mean that one is more suitable for specific applications than the other one. We have used both for different purposes.
