Not the most powerful but good at what it does.
Overall Satisfaction with Google Sheets
Most users integrate Google Sheets with Google Forms to compile data, whether survey data or analysis of assessment results. Because multiple people can edit a sheet in real time, most spreadsheets shared across groups or teams use Sheets rather than Excel, regardless of purpose.
Pros
- Collect/organize data gathered through Forms.
- Allow for live collaboration within groups or teams.
- Improved equation features and functionality.
Cons
- Inability or difficulty setting up mail merge with other Google Suite programs (i.e. Docs).
- Less "Advanced Functionality" than competitors, which limits the operations you can perform in Sheets.
- Struggles with large data sets leading to slow performance or crashing.
- 100% of students trained in use of Google Sheets before graduation.
- Students use sheets to compile/analyze survey data.
- 70%+ senior students use sheets to create and use an advanced calculator.
Sheets is not as powerful as Excel, but it is more easily accessible and easier to use collaboratively. Excel has more functions, better modeling, and can handle larger datasets without slowing down or crashing, but for 90%+ of the time, Sheets can do just as well and allows multiple people to make live changes to the sheet online.
