Overall Satisfaction with Huntress
In theory we use it for EDR/MDR to protect against attacks, but in reality it's just for compliance and insurance. Our systems are already very isolated and secured, but these days if you don't name an EDR in some areas you either don't get accreditation or insurance, or pay more. Huntress is a very easy to configure and manage EDR/MDR solution.
Pros
- Easy configuration.
- Easy monitoring and reporting.
Cons
- Would be good to see integration with other AV providers than Windows Defender, as neither Defender or Huntress offer great 0 day detection.
- It allowed us to tick off the compliance checkbox.
- Made insurance easier to get/cheaper.
- I guess it provides some peace of mind re security, but we've never actually had anything that required it to intervene yet, after years.
Basically we went with Huntress because of simplicity and reputation. We still use ESET for AV but felt their EDR product was reactionary to Huntress existing, rather than a particularly well thought out product.
In my experience, Sophos is just too buggy in everything they do. I fear for my job and company each time I install any Sophos firmware or other major updates.
