Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Video (including Ustream)

Once viewership per stream starts to go over 500, it may be time to implement eCDN or hybrid.
Solid service overall, definite room for improvement, but they do seem to be intent on improving it. IBM's acquisition bodes well for some very interesting developments in the future.
It is used companywide to facilitate livestreaming and recording of meetings and presentations. It addresses the problem of teams spread geographically across the planet who need to be kept in the loop. It solves for both live, which permits limited interactivity via Q&A, and non-live (watching post-facto via VOD), without any need to differentiate between the two.

Pros

  • Global reach (ingest points and points of presence)
  • 24 hour support
  • Excellent admin UI

Cons

  • RTMP push limits the number of devices that can stream to the service - RSTP pull would open up many options for hardware
  • Updates are released a little too fast and without enough QC to make them bug-free
  • No 360 degree video
