Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloudability

We use IBM Cloudability for tracking cloud spend and for giving business owners the ability to monitor their own department's spending. We needed a way to be able to track spending and empower business owners to make informed decisions about cloud spend.

Pros

  • giving granular, daily tracking of cloud spend
  • gives access to different layers of data to users
  • integrates with the cloud to pull data

Cons

  • Cloudability alone has limited graphing abilities, but I am aware of the other tools that may do this better
  • It is difficult to customize some things like colors
  • Business groupings can be tricky to set up if the logic is not simple
  • We have had some savings from the rightsizing (termination of unused resources)
  • We also had some savings from rightsizing to smaller VMs
  • Cloudability has been able to increase our awareness and the transparency of our cloud spend
The user interface is clean, but it also is a bit limited. When creating a filter, the buttons aren't always intuitive and the fact that Cloudability applies the filters or business groupings in a specific order is not really clear.
Power BI is a powerful tool for visualization. Apptio does a great job at managing the data from the cloud spend, but Power BI can create much better and more complex visualizations

Do you think IBM Cloudability delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with IBM Cloudability's feature set?

Yes

Did IBM Cloudability live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of IBM Cloudability go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy IBM Cloudability again?

Yes

IBM Cloudability is really well suited to companies that need to look at trends in their cloud spend on a day to day basis. IBM Cloudability (alone) is not ideal for beautiful and complex visualizations.
