Overall Satisfaction with IBM Envizi
Downer uses IBM Envizi to measure and manage its carbon emissions footprint, across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions. This is used to report externally through Downer's Sustainability Report and our NGER submission, as well as investor surveys. Downer also uses this information to communicate emissions performance internally. Both external and internal targets have been set against this data.
Pros
- Data lineage
- Reporting
- Scope 3 AI capability
- Ease of use out of the box, including clear organisational structure and managed emissions factors
Cons
- Bulk edits of existing accounts could be improved
- Native reporting could be more flexible/intuitive
- More flexible decarbonisation pathway modelling
- 45% cut to error rate for Scope 3 categorisations
- Months of time savings in uploading manual data
- Ensured efficient assurance engagements
The ability to automate data feeds into the platform and automatically map these to the existing organisational hierarchy. Reporting, in particular, API functionality to be able to export flat file data into various applications across Downer. System generated estimates (accruals) to allow for the automated plugging of gaps through the year as actual data comes in, to ensure that at any given point during the year, an fairly accurate picture of emissions performance can be provided without the need to upload 100% of data to achieve this.
It really helps with understanding the anomalies in our data, it provides us with a diagnostic of overall data health and if there are any gaps or oddities that might have arisen from a reporting error. We can compare current figures against the audit history and more easily figure out what’s going on. Altogether, we’ve seen an increase in the credibility of our sustainability data.
