Overall Satisfaction with IBM Instana
We primarily use it for checking for errors, automated notifications, and server level monitoring. That being said, we are planning on expanding out current usage to include supporting specific event investigations as well as customer support investigations rather that for just planning how to correct address problems after they happen.
- Information
- Organization of data
- Interface Layout
- Flexibility in usage
- there could be some additional clarification on how logs work since different details seem to be broken apart more, but even this isn't to bad.
- Latency detection
- error rate monitoring
- Smart Alerts
- It has done wonders for ensuring our uptime with customers
In my experience, they both have independent strengths and shortcomings, though I have found IBM Instana to be much better for general monitoring and setting up alerts to get ahead of any problems. Contrastly, I think humio/Falcon has been easier to use when it comes to breaking down the exact logs in a way we can easily present them to our end customers (many of which struggle to understand computers beyond their email).
