Overall Satisfaction with IBM Planning Analytics

I am the TM1 (Table Manager 1) Admin for [...]. I manage the system and engineering with the oversight of a systems architect. We use TM1 for financial reporting and financial planning & analysis. We use it for product finance planning. Long range planning, hedge modeling, and to store FX rates. But our main bread and butter is FP&A.

Pros

  • Excel integration
  • Ti Scripting language
  • Multiple user Interfaces
  • speed

Cons

  • Feeders and Rules are too much
  • Too much engineering for basic things every company needs
  • has very little operational tracking information that is easy to read
  • The tool is used to all its benefits like any other high level planning tool would be used
  • Nothing particular about the tool that we probably would not be able to do with another brand
I would say it is 6/10 on importance

Do you think IBM Planning Analytics delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with IBM Planning Analytics's feature set?

Yes

Did IBM Planning Analytics live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of IBM Planning Analytics go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy IBM Planning Analytics again?

Yes

Most of the customer service people are very knowledgeable but some times there is that one that provides wrong/incorrect information.
Most users are content with the system. Backend users are not to fond of the TM1 rules and feeders.
It is great at excel integration for financial planning and scenario analysis. It is easy to spin up a cube for a user who has minimal requirements. It is great at reading and writing to cubes. The cons are all around the backend engineering related to rules and feeders. Nothing is out of the box, everything has to be custom and created.
