Overall Satisfaction with IBM Planning Analytics

We use IBM Planning Analytics to analyse students' results. Planning Analytics allows us to identify at risk students at an early stage, so we can provide necessary assistance to students who are at risk to fail. This helps us retain more students who would drop out or switch to other universities.

Pros

  • accuracy
  • ease of use
  • speed

Cons

  • Online document can be improved
  • User interface
  • Cost
  • time saving
  • improved accuracy
  • detailed reporting
IBM Planning Analytics helps us forecast enrolment number in the next few years, based on current student enrolment number and pass rates in each discipline. We developed a number of different models for analysis and used different scenarios to try to capture all possibilities and then compared results from different models to make necessary adjustments.

IBM Planning Analytics is generally good in terms of functionalities. It can be used reduce time for budget planning, resource planning, demand forecasting, etc. The performance of IBM Planning Analytics is acceptable, but user interface can be improved. It would be good to see new features that allow users to customise the dashboard.
IBM Planning Analytics is good for small to medium-size jobs or less complex projects. It can generate reasonably comfident results if input datasets are well prepared and cleaned. IBM Planning Analytics is not quite good when it comes to large-scale datasets, or datasets from various sources (for example data dumped from different databases.
