Overall Satisfaction with IBM Planning Analytics

The finance team uses IBM Planning Analytics to pull togeather information from various systems, including relational databases, to create a user friendly database system to provide reports to the business relevant to management, marketing and operations.

Pros

  • Speed in searching and summarising information
  • ease of making consolidated reports
  • Simplifys the retriveing data

Cons

  • In my experience, large dynamic reports fail consistantly - IBM Planning Analytics should at least warn that they will fail before wasting the users time
  • In my experience, it links well to MS Excel but some better links to Google sheets would be helpful
  • In my experience, the user variables set up in programs using architect or perspectives cant be managed properly in the online project management environment. these user variables were a very useful tool for testing code.
  • Saved time and effort in regular reporting
  • Made it possible to provide custom information at short notice
  • Improved the accuracy of information provided for the business
It is very import for our management to be able to determine how new strategies will affect the buiness. IBM Planning Analytics provides a database of all the relavant information that can easily be manipulated to link the data very quickly into diffefernt configurations to provide the requested scenarios

I have contacted the suport team on a number of occasions and the support has been provided quickly and satisfactorily
Once it has been set up and a model provided to the end user it is very easy to use. It does however require technically experienced people for to set up the model.
Snowflake, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
IBM Planning Analytics is very useful for bringing togeather information from different sources into a single database to be used to combine the data and report on it.
It is very useful to create custom reports where there is a specific report format required, such as in finance reports.
It is very good at for summarising very large databases and making the information available very quickly.
Although is can be used to create all manner of applications it is sometimes used for applications where its strengths arent utilized and would be better served by an off the shelp app, like document management.
