Overall Satisfaction with IBM Power

We used it in our production environment for the factory. It was a highly used system, 24*7 and it worked without any problem and also with enhanced performance. Performance improvement was around 200% compared to P6 we had in our environment.

Pros

  • I/O performance were exceptionally great when coupled with DS8K storage system.

Cons

  • If Cluster node configuration is available inside S922.
  • It was great investment as we have merge 3 Power LPARs to single S922.
We were looking for a [IBM] Power System only and the requirement was to migrate to the single Power system and IBM Power System S922 was a perfect fit for use with 4 core CPU.
