Overall Satisfaction with IBM POWER9 Servers

I work in distribution, so we use P9 servers in our solution centres for demo purposes. In addition we also have a few POC boxes that we lend to our partners to run workloads for compete comparisons with their client ecosystems
  • Unmatched scaling performance
  • Best platform for AI projects
  • Enhanced security Encryption for cloud
  • Pricing, a little on the higher side compared to other vendor entry ecale up servers. Though this can be remedied by the overall TCO of the box but just the sticker shock sometimes scare would be clients
  • Increased revenue by clients refreshing old POWER boxes and transitioning to POWER9
Haven't evaluated any other servers
POWER9 servers are well suited for cloud environments as well due to the reliability and security. They also make it easier to build new cloud environments due to the tools that come with it such as IBM's PowerVM virtualization which contains the Virtual I/O Server that can be used to virtualize I/O resources for client partitions in Linux, IBM i and AIX.
