Overall Satisfaction with IBM POWER9 Servers
We have two power9 systems. S922 and E980. S922 is being used by PACCAR Parts division for material planning. E980 just got installed and will be used for Transportation project
- Fast processor (room to grow).
- Capacity
- Cloud computing
- LPM
- Should have out of the box PowerVC and PowerSC available. I did not know these were optional
- For Paccar Parts S922 system provided great cost saving by migrating two power7 systems.
- We need more scale up systems like E980 for our environment.
We have been using Dell PowerEdge server for our Vmware environment. SAP HANA application was evaluated to run on ESX but all the studies and testing we did showed that ESX will not be able to provide performance, scalability and reliability we can get from POWER9. We also have Power8 systems where we are running out of resources. Power9 Enterprise systems provide all the features we would like to see in Enterprise system.
