Overall Satisfaction with IBM POWER9 Servers
We support an IBM POWER9 Server that runs an enterprise-wide application.
- Allow access to certain configuration items (ie. DHCP/DNS configuration) without using a GUI
- My biggest complaint is when the server reaches the end of initial support contract, support costs go up so much it almost makes more sense to upgrade (i.e. forced obsolescence).
POWER9 Servers will beat competitor configurations hands-down; however, many of our companies are short-sighted and look at the cost of acquisition rather than the TCO. In their opinion, it's easier to throw another Windows/RHEL server into the mix rather than spend the money up front and get more than enough POWER9 capacity to future-proof their situation.
