Overall Satisfaction with IBM Storage FlashSystem

We're only using it on-prem at the moment
We're using FlashSystem to address our disk performance issue. We're using the FlashSystem for one of our core banking system.

Pros

  • Scheduled snapshot
  • Ease of use GUI
  • Safeguarded snapshot creation

Cons

  • Safeguarded snapshot that is really safe, and can't be deleted even by the user (need to log case to delete it)
  • More detailed performance monitoring in the GUI (per volume, per host)
  • Volume protection setting can't be changed by user (need to log case to change it)
  • Much faster response time
  • Simplified management, consolidated storage in 1 single box
  • Better data security(encryption, safeguarded copy)
We notice a very high improvement over our previous storage and this benefit the organization greatly
3Par management is not intuitive and much complicated
Data reduction is not up to par
Well suited when performance and resiliency is important to the organization.
Less appropriate for archiving purpose, lower priority system usage
