IBM Storage FlashSystem rules
Overall Satisfaction with IBM Storage FlashSystem
As a business partner we use, sell and support the whole IBM Storage FlashSystem portfolio. We use them as a backend storage for SVC clusters or in pairs as HyperSwap Cluster or parts of the new IBM Storage FlashSystem Grid with PBHA or alternatively PBR. The IBM Storage FlashSystem as a product addresses reliability, accessibility and performance- as well as security issues of our customers. The customers are really satisfied with the products and love using them. Last but not least we are all happy about the price point of the IBM Storage FlashSystems.
This helps pretty much competing the systems of other vendors. Even if these are often not doing basic technical research and development like IBM does. But the pricepoint also counts. Thank you very much!

Pros
- Extremely performant
- extremely reliable
- Very easy to set up and use
- Good pricepoint
- Tons of features.
Cons
- GUI could be better in some points like menus are duplicated sometimes
- CLI commands
- Better translation in GUI for non English speakers
- Very reliable
- Less power and climate performance consuming than e.g. netapp
- very easy to service and operate
- because of capacity and performance at a really good pricepoint, the ROI is achieved quite quick.
For me it's still the easy setup and day two operations. For my customers count the low price point and good maintenance contracts more. Especially the FlashCore technology with its compression, threat detection and superior performance pushes the customer experience. I didn't have one customer since the announcement of IBM Storage FlashSystem quitting to the competitors who are selling just off the shelf ssds. Keep on going, IBM! Please!
Now we can detect and react to cyber threats an monitor our performance and support tickets in a single pane of glass landing zone. Now with IBM Storage FlashSystem Grid we can also group up to 32 IBM Storage FlashSystems and SVC together and share workloads and stuff between them. Also we can migrate workloads seemlessly between so many systems controlled by one management GUI.
Like I already commented before. IBM Storage FlashSystems are more reliable, much easier to setup and operate and available at a much better price point as the competitor. So our experience is that the competition is going to "no bid" if IBM Storage FlashSystems are entering the room. Except they try to buy the deal. But even after that the customer is trying out IBM Storage FlashSystem. Just a few years later...
