Use Cases and Deployment Scope

At our organization, we use Ideagen Quality Control to balloon our prints, create process flow diagrams, control plans, pfmeas, and FAI reports for customer submission to our Aerospace customers. It helps us ensure our documentation agrees with each other since it is all incorporated in one software package in a coherent and professional format.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Ensures all features are accounted for by highlighting features until they have been addressed.
The process flow maps look amazing when exported to Excel

Cons

The FMEA portion is clunky and isn’t as easy to customize failure modes
Copy and paste doesn’t work well, and the control plan bounces to other balloons sporadically as you enter data
Excel output to the templates should be easier to customize. It shouldn’t need special skills from the software manufacturer.

Usability

There is a definite learning curve with this software, but once you figure out how things work it goes a lot smoother.

Alternatives Considered

SOLIDWORKS and Discus Business Solutions IT Services

It was customer driven to switch to Ideagen. I think Ideagen has a better grasp on its Quality Software than SOLIDWORKS Inspection and Discus, but there is room for improvement.

It’s not about copy-pasting but using the app’s built-in functions to add items to and from the library. Additionally, the control plan is designed with stability in mind and doesn’t bounce around.
