Overall Satisfaction with iMovie
It was used specifically by the Design department for advertising our app game, creating a demo video for the App Store and splicing together game footage.
- iMovie splices film together quickly and simply
- It provides great basic transitions
- Lining up music or sound to film is fast and easy
- More detailed look at footage to know where to cut
- A numbered or ticked timeline would be very helpful
- A less confusing interface for newer users
- iMovie has been useful for the basic needs we’ve employed it for: app demo video
- Splicing together ad shots for our app
- Producing short clips that were easy and quick to make, to share on social media
I have used Adobe After Effects. After Effects is perfect for creating animated title cards as well as video and audio splicing. The basic nature of iMovie means little to no lag, whereas After Effects may suffer from this (especially with larger audio files). However, if you only need basic video and audio trimming and combining, iMovie is the program for you.
