Overall Satisfaction with Jenzabar ONE

Jenzabar ONE is the primary ERS and SIS for our organization. It is the primary product we use to capture, monitor, and report on student-level data, manage payroll and human resources functions, and manage the prospect-to-alumnus lifecycle. In addition, we use Jenzabar ONE to manage our donor base and create and monitor most aspects the communication flow for those friends.

Pros

  • Jenzabar ONE makes working within the system possible and secure using remote and WFH options.
  • Jenzabar ONE is adept at managing the central functions of the Registrar's Office.
  • Jenzabar ONE is capable and adequate for student accounts and billing.

Cons

  • Jenzabar ONE is very good at "plain vanilla" installations, but, in our experience, as customization takes place, there is an increasing capability gap with reporting.
  • Jenzabar ONE offers IPEDS reporting capability, but no one at any institution we work with in our association has been able to get the IPEDS snapshottings and reporting to work consistently.
  • In our experience, Jenzabar ONE suffers from a sales team which over promises on behalf of an under delivering technical support team.
  • Jenzabar ONE has been critical to our success as we have become a more hybrid organization.
  • API integration is adequate; with the sandbox features it is excellent.
  • Our sandbox (play database environment) allows us to test new approaches and integrations to get things "right" prior to deploying them.
Jenzabar ONE is good at what it does. Given our discounting structure within the association of colleges and universities of which we are a member, the ROI on Jenzabar ONE beats the pants off anyone else's offerings. Switching horses mid-stream would be costly and difficult. Fortunately, Jenzabar ONE has the general capabilities we seek.
Jenzabar ONE has 90% of the capabilities of of its competitors, and a price point significantly below those products. Both Banner and PeopleSoft provide capabilities that exceed what we need. Paying for those additional features is not cost effective. In short, Jenzabar ONE does nearly everything we need, and both Banner and PeopleSoft only offer extra capabilities we will not use.

A significant part of the initial build process rests in the business operations decisions which MUST be made prior to implementing Jenzabar ONE. In hindsight, we still would have gone with Jenzabar ONE, but we probably would have made some changes in how we operate from a business process standpoint prior to making the implementation decision. Having to go back and make changes is both burdensome and made more difficult after the implementation decision.
