Overall Satisfaction with Joule

Joule is launched as a pilot project within the Human Resources domain for around 200 managers and employees in different orgs like HR, Tech, and Finance. We explored all the pre-defined use cases offered by the Joule with Successfactors, whichever is applicable for our company. These use cases are standard use cases limited to navigation and actionable use cases. Primarily, we are exploring Joule as a chatbot or copilot for new employees who do not know much about the system, and the ease of taking action for managers.

Pros

  • Spot awards creation.
  • Quick navigation to submodules.
  • Assisting new hires to check their Onboarding Checklist and guide them.

Cons

  • Compensation insights - The insights are not great and it changes every time you run.
  • Random errors that pops up during conversation.
  • Workflow approval is cumbersome; instead, one can go and approve without Joule.
  • Promising but unquantified - We are in the early stages of adoption, it is too early to calculate a hard financial ROI.
  • Joule sometimes struggles with highly specific, custom business logic unique to our organization, limiting its utility to standard processes only.
  • Joule agents sound promising, which gives the ability to create your own agents.
The conversational AI is still immature when compared to other tools outside the SAP world. The error prompts are very generic, and we may not know the exact reason. The use cases are limited, so they do not answer any questions beyond the standard ones, and they cannot use the terminology used by companies.

Do you think Joule delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Joule's feature set?

No

Did Joule live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Joule go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Joule again?

Yes

Joule is well-suited, probably for document grounding (look at company policies), and provides an answer. Another area is the Joule agents (that is still in the early phase), which gives a conversational experience with the users. Joule is less appropriate in areas where multiple answers have to be given to complete an action, which can be done better in the UI.
