1 / 5

SAP Joule for Developers.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am using Joule for Developer to learn how it works, refactoring code using natural language prompts to get smart code predictions for my current ABAP version, enhancing code consistency, and aligning with SAP-specific best practices.

Pros

  • Provide code up to some extent.
  • Reduce some coding effort.
  • Code Explanation & Understanding.

Cons

  • More interact with code development.
  • Better I'd available for on-premise version.
  • Still, Code Quality Requires Constant Human Verification, not generating 100% accuracy code.

Return on Investment

  • Provide code with SAP best practice.
  • Still need some more improvements to provide code specific to environment.
  • Well explained legacy code by point wise.

A Honest Joule Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Joule by itself does not add much on our day-to-day business. Our company focuses more on the SuccessFactors platform so to be able to take value out of Joule we had to build Joule Studio skills around it in order to do some more specific tasks. Some quick examples: get information on Leavers, do calculations on maternity pay scenarios, and so on. Without Joule Studio, Joule could only do transactional stuff and quick actions, which by itself is not a great value added.

Pros

  • Executes most of the time the correct Joule Skill
  • Good to run quick actions without going to the user profile

Cons

  • In SuccessFactors Joule should have more tools out of the box.
  • There should be more examples on what is possible to do with Joule or Joule Studio in Successfactors, all available examples seem to focus only on Payroll or Inventory management leaving the HR behind.
  • Document Grounding should be easier to implement, and should be possible to have some kind of permissions per couuntry / user group for specific documents. The implementation with Sharepoint makes it harder to complete because normally we need some extra team to join and help and until now, I always had issues implementing it. I believe that it would make it much easier if the documents could be stored and managed inside SuccessFactors.

Joule Enhances SAP Productivity.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In our organization, we mainly use Joule in SAP SuccessFactors to automate and complete tasks through natural conversation, which eliminates manual steps. Play a big role in eliminating the constant back and forth and guesswork involved in finding accurate information, as well as completing routine tasks, for example, workforce insights, budget and planning, document retrieval, etc. Additionally, it makes navigating SuccessFactor seamless.

Pros

  • Tasks execution.
  • Quick information access.
  • Automating repetitive tasks through natural conversation.
  • Simplifying complex SAP tasks.
  • Deliver data insights.

Cons

  • Sometimes Joule feels limited with very complex requests, the responses feel a bit slower.
  • I would like to have more personalization choices, especially with regard to deeper connections with 3rd party tools and workflow automation.

Return on Investment

  • Allow us to have everyday operations smoother by automating repetitive tasks and reducing manual efforts, which saves time and improves efficiency.
  • Facilitate effortless information access, since it allows us to search and receive instant responses.
  • Reduces the complexity of SAP by pulling data from different modules and making it clear quickly.

Joule Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

One of the very important things in Joule is that it has no dependencies on the users. And users, when gone are the days when they are dependent on the consultants, and then to show me how it works. They can usually just ask Joule, "Hey, show me what purchase orders are open. Hey, show me what is in my queue and is going to answer all those and show all that data to the customer." So they are reducing the time as in a dependency. That's a very good feature. There's the workflow automation with Joule, which brings efficiency. That's what makes it a much better feature with the Joule and the faster timeline, getting the task done better and reducing the time.

Pros

  • It really does well with the user guidance. It really helps with the data and the foster decisions. It is helping with time savings because you are not dependent on someone else just to ask how to navigate to the screens or the list of sales orders. So it is really a good initiative and product.
  • It does have a lot of improvements because many users are complaining about the speed of the Joule. It's a little bit slow, which I am sure SAP is working on, but overall, I think it's a very good initiative and has a very good AI initiative with SAP, which is helping with the task.

Cons

  • I would definitely like to see faster responses. One of the question I was getting when I was interacting with my customers here, they are saying how proactively Joule is updated or how fast it is updated with the real time technology and the things we are asking or what is the frequency of it, which was totally something to work on to see how continuous improvement is happening because if you are asking something. It's not helping the answers because it's just not updated, or there's no continuous improvement; that's something you should work on. And I think that will also help with faster response, at the speed and all that.

Return on Investment

  • It definitely has a positive impact because users are happy. AI is coming to SAP, and everywhere is AI right now.
  • Negative side, I don't see any as of now. It does not cost anybody's job, but in fact it is helping because you have the scope of learning AI and helping Joule development, so I don't see anything negative right now.
