Overall Satisfaction with Kemp LoadMaster

Our Kemp LoadMaster is utilized by our entire organization - it is being used to provide a load balancing mechanism for our Exchange environment. This allows us to provide redundant email service to all employees in the company.
  • Ease of configuration. Kemp provides excellent and easy to follow documentation.
  • High performance, it is able to keep up with our email demand without breaking a sweat.
  • Stability - over 5 years we have not had a single issue that was caused by the LoadMaster appliances.
  • It would be nice to have a bulk edit/upload option for ACL entries.
  • When in HA mode, it would be helpful to be able to manage certificates on the appliances individually instead of only on the master through the shared IP.
  • Ease of maintenance/upgrades.
  • Redundant load balancing.
  • High performance/throughput.
We also evaluated Citrix Netscaler as we had used it previously and still had valid licensing for it, but the Kemp LoadMaster was much more stable in our experience, and required less configuration to get us to a working state.
Kemp LoadMaster usability is great, as it is very easily configured. The documentation is also very comprehensive, leading to most if not all configurations being perfectly doable without having to utilize their support or any other third party consulting, which I cannot say the same for all products in this category.
Customer support has been great. I've only had to utilize them to address some issues that came up during our initial purchase and configuration of our secondary LoadMaster for HA purposes. They were able to quickly resolve the issue and I was very happy with the level of support I received.

The Kemp LoadMaster being a load balancing product is inherently well suited to situations and scenarios that require some form of load balancing between multiple servers or systems. However, in our case it was also useful for temporary development web applications, in which the server IP was not consistent. It was easier to set it up as a virtual service so we could keep the client configuration consistent, and just update the IPs in a single place (on the Kemp).
