Overall Satisfaction with Kemp LoadMaster

My company is using Kemp Loadmaster as load balancer for Exchange deployments, ADFS infrastructure and also for webserver farms with custom applications. Additionally, the reverse proxy feature with pre-authentication is used in some setups. We are a consulting/hosting company and have many customers using Kemp technology.
  • Ease of use - configuration is simple and there are templates for many use cases.
  • Support is awesome. If we ever ran into issues with more complex setups, we got quick help.
  • Value for money compared to competitors.
  • Integration into monitoring solutions is possible but could be more intuitive.
  • The web-based interface sometimes needs a manual refresh to show the actual status of services.
  • We used Kemp LoadMaster for many projects. For a lot of customers, load balancers were too expensive or too complicated before we introduced Kemp products.
  • It's not a overly complicated product, so we were able to train many engineers on it and have them get a certification.
Kemp LoadMaster is easier to implement and operate, all while being less expensive. Although some competitors offer more functionality, most of our customers don't need it.

Would you buy Kemp LoadMaster again?

Yes

Kemp LoadMaster is an awesome product in load balancing or reverse proxy scenarios for Microsoft Exchange, but it can be used for other services too like ADFS, NPS, custom web applications, RDS farms, etc. The pre-authentication features also allow MFA to be used with products that don't offer a native functionality.
Kemp VLM, the virtual appliances, can be deployed and configured very quickly. I'd say, a Kemp VLM pair[ed] with HA for an Exchange deployment can be set up in 2 to 3 hours.
The Kemp LM is not supported as a reverse proxy for ADFS, although it could be used as such. But it can load balance Microsoft's Web Application Proxy instead, which is the native Federation Services proxy.
