Overall Satisfaction with KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus

We use KnowBe4 PhishER to help align the phishing and suspicious mail reporting and leverage the ability to remove potentially malicious mails from mailboxes using the PhishRip functionality across our company. This is a second line approach as we also leverage the tools within Office 365, however, it does help to also determine how well our staff understand how to recognise spam and phishing mails allowing us to further tailor our training needs.

Pros

  • Suspicious mail removal from multiple mailboxes
  • Automated alerts via webhook integrations

Cons

  • Creation of rules using natural language AI integration to make it more straightforward would be great
  • InfoSec Operations visibility of threats
  • Reduced time to track and remove malicious/suspicious mails
  • Ease of phishing mail reporting for all staff
The bulk of time saved for us has been the staff interaction with the Phish Alert button which integrates seamlessly in to Outlook. We have all the information in the platform that we need for further investigation and there is also the integration with Virustotal to check URLs and attachments which saves us running in circles with the users to attempt to investigate issues.
We use PhishFlip and PhishRIP when necessary.
The PhishFlip has been useful in training staff on mails that are associated with targeted attacks that made it past our other filters. This really helps to reduce the potential of a malicious mail or spear phishing attack making it to the next level.

PhishRip is very handy for the removal of similar mails across all staff mailboxes - reducing the risk of a malicious link or attachment being clicked
We use the two tools in parallel to ensure that we can effectively manage and report on Phishing and further enhance our training campaigns.

It is suited to companies that have already integrated the KnowBe4 platform for awareness training and phishing simulations.

While there are strengths to the PhishER tool alone, there is only limited value in using it without the interaction with the training. It may be seen as less beneficial to companies that already leverage some form of protection from their mail service provider - such as Office 365, but with the potential risks posed by Phishing attacks - this is a risk best reviewed against your own risk appetite.
