Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF

We used Kofax Power PDF when we started the business 6.5 years ago and have never looked back. We regularly use it to create complex documents such as affidavits, which involve putting together a number of documents (some PDF and some not), redaction, automatic numbering, labeling, and bookmarking. We also use the 'Make PDF Searchable' function, which saves us enormous time, especially for large documents. Highly recommended. Far more cost-effective than its main competitor.

Pros

  • Turning non-readable PDFs into readable PDFs.
  • Adjusting PDFs - e.g., removing/adding pages, combining PDFs, flipping/rotating pages, etc.
  • Redaction - easy, fast, and effective.

Cons

  • It can sometimes be a bit slow to respond - for example, when selecting an individual page in the left-hand window, it can take ten or so seconds to react, during which I always think it has crashed!
  • Saved costs by being significantly cheaper than its main competitor.
  • Time-saving by making it easy to combine and amend PDFs.
  • Has a lot less distracting features than some competitors - which also makes it (usually) operate faster.
I usually do find it easy to use. All the menus seem pretty obvious and I like the fact that it isn't cluttered with a whole lot of other features, which both slow down and distract in other products. I've never needed to check the manual, which is always a good sign, and all our other staff seem to find it very intuitive too. I am the defacto IT support within the office and no-one ever comes to me with questions about Power PDF!
Much better value for money. One fixed fee and then never have to think about it again. Also, Adobe is just overstuffed with features that I have no interest in using and which it constantly insists I try. We are forced to use Adobe for certain documents (because our Legal Management System always selects it as a default), and I find it far less effective.
The only thing I have ever contacted was support for us when we needed to download a new version because we had changed computers, and they were always very helpful.

Primarily the redaction features and the Make-Readable feature. These are very handy for quickly putting together affidavits and other such documents.
Very useful when you need to combine multiple documents into one - for example, putting together a bundle of attachments. You can use the automatic numbering, easily remove and insert pages, flip/rotate pages, do redactions, make manual labels using the Typewriter function, and create bookmarks (automatically or manually). It is also useful for taking large 'non-readable' PDFs and converting them into a readable format for easy searching.
