Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)
Kofax Power is being used in the Accounting and Finance application. It allows me to change, adapt and 'publish' our policies - updating them as needed without recreating the entire policy. I use Kofax to scan and keep all invoices correspondence, adding notes and highlighting areas as needed when things come up. Often I received PDF documents that need to be converted into an Excel spreadsheet, which Kofax does more effectively than any other PDF converter program I have used.
- Allows notes and adaptations to a PDF file.
- Allows me to extract and/or insert pages from other PDF documents.
- Kofax has MANY tools. drawing, writing, signatures.
- Easy to manipulate the PDF's to show exactly what I would like to print and share.
- When using the drawing tool, once I have used it, I need to again click on the button to activate it. It will not let me use an arrow (for example) twice in a row.
- I had a difficult time finding the areas that I would like to change for the default. Would be nice if that was easier to find and understand what it was telling me.
- At times the typewriter function is VERY slow to allow me to type. Perhaps the computer I am using, because I have Kofax on multiple computers and this problem is not universal to all.
- I am always looking for better / clearer conversion process to Excel and Word. Does great, can develop to convert better, I believe.
- There is considerable time savings once I became familiar with the program.
- I have been able to receive files from our auditor and make notes directly to the file and resend. Saves me from printing them, writing on them, rescanning them, and resending them. VERY nice.
- I have used the program to combine and keep loan documents and updates together so I have much less to sort through when looking for specifics of a loan or account.
- I can combine patient bills for the patients, showing the progression of bills / payments, etc. Increases the ease for some patients to understand their billing.
Power PDF is quite easy to use. There is a learning curve because of how robust the program is, but the details and menu items are well worded, making it fairly easy to understand what each button will do. It was quite easy to modify the toolbar to suit the commands that I use each and every day. I learn more and more about this program each year as I use it. I have begun using this program not just at work, but at the church and for all of my personal needs at home as well.
I have used 3 or 4 different PDF programs. I have used Adobe (which does a fairly good job, but Kofax is easier to use for those less tech-savvy). I have used PDF Element, which I could not get to do a lot of the things I wanted in order to be efficient. I have used PDF Annotator. Did okay for simplistic things, but manipulation and changing of an already existing PDF was inefficient and somewhat difficult for me. There have been one or two others as well, but I have used Nuance / Kofax for so long I only remember that they pale in comparison.

- Insert / remove pages (from documents).
- Typewriter feature.
- Add note (I can change the color and the fill color to white, which creates a 'box' that covers something I do not wish to be visible when I print the document - I use this a lot for privacy issues).
- I use the text markup tool a lot for rough drafts and to send comments and requests to department managers.
