Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

Primary use of Power PDF is for restructuring scanned PDF's, conversion of PDF's to a searchable version and the redaction of sensitive information when required. The product is used primarily in support of Real Estate transactions and Condominium board documents.
  • Conversion to searchable text is well done with the product. Accuracy appears to be quite good.
  • Redaction of information from documents works well. Easy to follow.
  • Combining and re configuring PDF's is straight forward to load and move pages as required.
  • Providing a method to estimate the new size of a PDF and provide options on how to best get a smaller PDF of high quality created through the interface.
  • Significant time has been saved for editing and redacting PDF's and not having to print and rescan.
Interface has been intuitive and easy to follow. a little more detail about save types and related document sizes would be the main improvement from the limited scope of features I've used where there could be improvement.
I have also use ABBYY fine to do the same tasks. They both appear to work as intended and I have no preference of one over the other in my experience with the products.

Yes

Did Tungsten Power PDF live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Tungsten Power PDF go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Tungsten Power PDF again?

Yes

Redaction, Text conversion and Document page editing / rearranging have all worked as expected.
Kofax Power PDF has performed well in all of my current use cases, for conversion to text, redaction and PDF editing. The only challenge is PDF size for large documents where after editing it can be 10 times the original size and I haven't found a way to reduce that back down.
