Overall Satisfaction with Linode

Linode instance is used for VPN, ownCloud, and occasional service testing.

  • The low base level cost facilitates nice-to-have available services (VPN, gitlab, etc.).
Google cloud provides serverless scalable services that protect key business pipelines from falling over during unexpected high volumes. Linode clusters require management and provisional scaling, which is acceptable in most cases but still requires monitoring. That said, GCP billing also scales appropriately, but often slightly higher billing is preferable to fall-over.
The none-to-full service options are adequate. Combined with the excellent documentation, the none options is often viable.
The cost of ownership has been exceptionally low and the service wholly reliable. I intend to maintain some degree of service through Linode in the longer-term for my business. As business grows, I expect my Linode usage to scale also.
Reliability has been consistently excellent. There have been no service outages that have in any way affected my business. At present, the business is able to accept short outages. However, the excellent uptime provides solid evidence for future use cases that will require close to 100%.
For consistent or predictable loads the existing structure works well. The kubernetes clusters were a great addition that allowed for many more options. Rapidly scaled "serverless" process options would provide sufficient power to challenge GCP/AWS in many business cases. With the addition of database services, this would cover all my companies and clients GCP use cases.
