Overall Satisfaction with Linode
We use Linode for web applications that cannot be run on our WordPress site, including a mailing list and conference registration.
- Fully customizable server configuration.
- Range of server plans based on specific needs.
- Extensive help center with guides for a range of use cases.
- Easy to configure reverse DNS.
- Easy to swap IP4 addresses with an existing Linode when building a replacement one.
- Wish we could swap IP6 addresses as well (not just IP4).
- When rebuilding a Linode, would be nice to use a Marketplace app (seems to be available only when creating a new Linode).
- Need better documentation of Marketplace apps, especially settings during creation phase.
- Linode has allowed us to run applications that are not available on typical webhosting platforms.
I have used a couple of other VPS providers, but Linode offers better, more cost effective plans.
Linode costs about half what we paid for a comparable plan at our previous VPS host, which makes it more affordable for us to run multiple servers instead of cramming everything onto a single server.
Linode has been very reliable. There have been a few hardware issues over the years, but Linode has been quick to identify and resolve them—usually before I've even noticed.
