Overall Satisfaction with Liquibase

Liquibase is used in our organization to revise and release database schema changes safer and faster from development stage to production stage. Liquibase automates the database CI/CD pipelines to improve speed, reliability and remove manual code reviews. Liquibase improved developer experience and collaboration within the organization. It is easy to manage and deploy database changes.

Pros

  • Liquibase manages database version very well.
  • Liquibase is faster and safer in releasing database changes from development to production.
  • Liquibase does well in automating the deployment of database changes.

Cons

  • The setup and rollback process can be made easy, as of now it is a bit complex and difficult.
  • Liquibase can improve in performance optimization to reduce execution time.
  • Liquibase can improve their error logging for version mismatches.
  • Liquibase got rollback capabilities which minimizes downtime and maintain database integrity.
  • Members within a team can collaborate efficiently and effectively on the database changes.
  • Automated deployment reduces the risk of human errors and ensures consistency.
The experience with Liquibase for database administration was great. We were able to make changes in the development environment and eventually releasing that into production environment confidently. We were confident even if there was an issue in production environment as Liquibase provides the rollback capabilities which can be used whenever we face issues in production.
I gave this rating because I feel their customer support staff have a very good and deep knowledge about the product and they are very helpful when we are stuck on something. The customer support is passionate about their product and they are always ready to help their customer as quickly as possible.

Liquibase is well suited when there is a need to manage database version. When there are database changes then Liquibase can easily manage, deploy the updates and it can build an automated CI/CD pipelines for databases. Liquibase is less appropriate where there is no change in database schema but that is less likely to happen.
