Overall Satisfaction with Make

We use Make to create low-code integrations for established processes and ad hoc scenarios. Our ERP system and e-commerce store are now linked to our task management platform, allowing for seamless integration of order dispatch and receiving. Every Sale and Purchase Order becomes a task on ClickUp, and updates to statuses are fed between systems.

Pros

  • Built-in integration options.
  • Custom API calls.
  • Ease of use.

Cons

  • Better documentation.
  • Less steep pricing.
  • Reduced manual work for our Dispatch team by 85%.
  • Reduced manual work for our Receiving team by 70%.
It is easy to add modules and edit the inputs and other parameters. The left-to-right flow of scenarios is easier to work with than the top-to-bottom flow. The auto-align feature is nice, as is the ability to see scenario executions step by step as they run. This is great for spotting issues in prod.
When we started using Make, it was more affordable than Integromat. That pricing gap has closed somewhat now. We much prefer the left-to-right flow of Make to the top-to-bottom flow of Zapier, and custom connections are more difficult to achieve in Zapier than in Make - Make's custom API call modules just make more sense.

Do you think Make delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Make's feature set?

Yes

Did Make live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Make go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Make again?

Yes

It is great for connecting via its built-in native integration options and, if those are lacking for the platform you are trying to connect to, custom API calls. If an API is available, it is theoretically possible to build custom API calls. Not every API is easy to interface with—I've had issues authenticating via AWS, for example.

Using Make

1 - Only I, in my role as Systems Manager, actively make use of Make. However, it is used in the workflows of various departments. I identify opportunities for automation, and make it happen. From Operations to Finance to Marketing to Human Resources.

Basic knowledge of computer programming helps! (not coding specifically - the theory behind algorithms, loops, etc)

  • Workflow Automations
  • Ad-Hoc Automations
  • Platform Integrations
  • Automate the generation and printing of Dispatch paperwork
  • Automate the generation and printing of Receiving Labels
  • Automate recruitment communications
  • Create a fully integrated data stack
At this point, it is firmly embedded in the DNA of the business and to give up the ability to automate workflows and create integrations on the fly would be a terrible idea.

Evaluating Make and Competitors

  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
  • Other
It came down to pricing and ease of use. When we signed up for Make, it was still known as Integromat and had far more reasonable pricing than Zapier. Even with the rebranding to Make and new pricing structure, we are still grandfathered in on our legacy plan. And Make is far easier to use to create custom connections than Zapier is.
I would like to start doing proper comparisons of platforms - run free tiers alongside each other (or even paid tiers, budget allowing) and see how they stack up against one another.

Make Support

Haven't had great experiences with their support - often get passed between their support and the support teams for the platforms I am trying to connect to, with neither willing to accept the fault.

Slow Initial Response
Nope - no budget for such.
