Overall Satisfaction with Mendix
We brought Mendix in to replace some of our legacy systems. We also needed to design a UI that is efficient and easy to use for our end users. From an IT perspective we wanted to increase our speed to market. So it not only addresses a business need but a technology need.
- We have been able to turn out 3 "products" within 18 months which is something that has not occurred within our organization before.
- We have quickly and easily developed a UI that our end users absolutely love.
- We have been able to increase our business brought into the organization by almost 17% for the first product and we expect the same increase if not more for the 2 additional products set to release this year
- The response from Mendix support has been great and they have even helped to prioritize changes in their platform that were needed for our organization and others based on issues we found in early platforms.
- They could use some more features as it relates to usability from a developer perspective. These items are minor but would create a much cleaner environment for a developer.
- More interaction at the start of the project to help enforce the agile methodologies. We were originally a waterfall organization. Having some assistance with changing that type of mindset within an organization would have been helpful
We developed our first application within 12 months. The main reason for the slow development was due to configure the framework from the ground up. But once you have developed your framework the ability to move extremely quick is realized quickly. Currently we are on pace to have 2 additional products out within 6-8 months.
We started using their agile product management tools and actually found that part of the mendix platform to be a little clunky and not necessarily user friendly. this part of their offering could use some improvement and advanced features for possibly tying into testing from a QA perspective. But for a smaller organization they will suffice.
We evaluated 3 to 4 other products before making the choice to go with Mendix. From a maturity perspective it was further ahead than the other options. From the rapid development perspective the tool was light years ahead of others. The ability for developers to learn the tool quickly and still have the flexibility within the platform to develop simple to complex widgets is great. This tool has endless possibilities once you become comfortable with the platform itself.
