Overall Satisfaction with Mendix

As a Mendix partner, we also use Mendix to support internal business processes. The first internal app we built with Mendix was a support portal in which our customers can register support calls and follow their progress. The second app we built was an expenses app that is available on both desktop and mobile. The big advantage to creating Mendix apps is that you can build exactly what you want. You don't need to change your business processes because your "standard" software cannot support them.
  • Speed. Mendix is really fast when it comes to developing. Especially for prototyping.
  • Easy. The hurdle to start developing with Mendix is low. Everyone who is computer savvy and knows his way around complex Excel formulas should be able to learn Mendix.
  • Integrations. The way Mendix has incorporated both SOAP and REST in the platform is very good and easy.
  • The online platform where you work together with your team and your customer could use a bit more custom functionality.
  • Document templates compared to the rest of the model are cumbersome. It is still fast to create nice documents but it could be a lot faster if all functionality of the page builder is also incorporated in the document builder.
As said before we developed a support portal and an expenses app for both desktop and mobile.
We use these tools to manage our projects. Both internally and with our customers. The tools provided by Mendix fully support the Scrum method and it is a very good fit for our scrum projects. Some tools could, however, get an update in functionality.
Very well suited for front-end and back-end applications that integrate other systems, both modern as legacy. Mendix can be used to create portals, backend systems, process and task driven applications and much more.
As Mendix is a platform to build software with, you should not build software that is already available from the shelf. Building a CRM in Mendix would be not very wise as CRM's are already widely available as SAAS solutions.
