Overall Satisfaction with Micro Focus Network Node Manager i (formerly HP Network Node Manager)

We use NNMi to monitor our entire network of 8,000 nodes. We create automatic tickets to SM based on some specific alarms detected by the software. Our NetOps group uses the tool along with our network operations center. We use it as a troubleshooting tool and also as a capacity and performance planning tool.
  • Network infrastructure monitoring.
  • Interface monitoring.
  • Flow monitoring.
  • QoS.
  • Upgrades are costly and very long.
  • Provided a view on what is happening in our network.
Support is long and arduous and often are unable to help resolve the issue. We often have to do escalations or duty manager to get things moved. Even with a technical account manager, we do not see much improvement from a support point of view. This is an area where Micro Focus has a lot of improvement to do.

Support at Micro Focus is just plain and simple terrible. The tool is fairly hard to configure and upgrades are long and arduous which makes product upgrade a nightmare. Although the documentation can sometimes claim that the product does something specific, you might discover that it is very limited in what it can actually do. An example of that is QoS for which not a lot of usual flows are supported.
