Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Application Server
MS Application Server is used by our remote staff and clients. Some of our applications require installation on physical systems since they are legacy applications. MS Application Server has enabled us to centralize application management to two servers and eliminated the need to update every single user's computer via scripts and deployments. This has saved us valuable resources in our IT department.
Pros
- Microsoft Application Server has been very stable. We have had very few issues with downtime except for updates.
- We now have a central location to manage and update our legacy apps without the need to install each app on each user's system.
- Application performance is surprisingly very good and responsive even in bandwidth restricted environments.
Cons
- Wish MS Application Server has support for more third-party providers.
- Patching the server requires reboots which is a common issue with MS hotfixes and service packs.
- Cheaper technical support options from Microsoft would be great.
- Our ROI has been great. We have been able to reduce the time spent on maintaining legacy applications which frees up IT staff to focus on other projects.
- We have been able to standardize all of our legacy applications to one location.
- Business operations have improved greatly by enabling all users access to our legacy applications.
We chose MS Application Server since it's fast and reliable and support complex environments and it's simple to set up and get running.
