Copilot changes the game with room to improve
Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Copilot
Copilot has many instances: Free, Premium, and Agents. We are using the premium and agents, so my review will cover these aspects. We use Copilot to connect to all the Microsoft 365 applications to help understand the organisation, find content that's relevant to our project work, and creating content for various purposes. We also use it across Power BI, Excel, and other power applications to help development tasks. We also use Copilot agents for specific special audiences and tasks.
Pros
- Create custom chatbot agents
- Native support for all M365 applications
- Finding content and answering questions with organisational context
- Developing content with organisational context
Cons
- Integration with other data sources
- Incompatibility with custom SharePoint modules
- Bias to surface content from documents, over SharePoint sites
- Increase efficiencies with note taking and drafting content
- Improve awareness and comprehension of organisational context
- Reduce the need for administrative roles
Microsoft Copilot is a serious competitor to ChatGPT in the corporate world, due to its heavy and well implemented integration across the Microsoft 365 suite. It produces comparable results, but provides data security, controls, customisation and options that ChatGPT can't provide to businesses. The underlying models in Copilot do need work to meet the demand for newer, better reasoning models. MS is working on this actively, so this space will evolve quickly.
