Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Copilot

Copilot has many instances: Free, Premium, and Agents. We are using the premium and agents, so my review will cover these aspects. We use Copilot to connect to all the Microsoft 365 applications to help understand the organisation, find content that's relevant to our project work, and creating content for various purposes. We also use it across Power BI, Excel, and other power applications to help development tasks. We also use Copilot agents for specific special audiences and tasks.

Pros

  • Create custom chatbot agents
  • Native support for all M365 applications
  • Finding content and answering questions with organisational context
  • Developing content with organisational context

Cons

  • Integration with other data sources
  • Incompatibility with custom SharePoint modules
  • Bias to surface content from documents, over SharePoint sites
  • Increase efficiencies with note taking and drafting content
  • Improve awareness and comprehension of organisational context
  • Reduce the need for administrative roles
It's integrated well across the Microsoft 365 suite of applications, without getting in the way, and providing useful tools. Some of the integrations need development, e.g. the Outlook add on is quite basic, and the excel and powerpoint ones can't do much yet. The implementation in Teams is really fantastic, significantly improving the experience of recording, transcription, and summarising meetings and action points.
Microsoft Copilot is a serious competitor to ChatGPT in the corporate world, due to its heavy and well implemented integration across the Microsoft 365 suite. It produces comparable results, but provides data security, controls, customisation and options that ChatGPT can't provide to businesses. The underlying models in Copilot do need work to meet the demand for newer, better reasoning models. MS is working on this actively, so this space will evolve quickly.

Do you think Microsoft 365 Copilot delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Microsoft 365 Copilot's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft 365 Copilot live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Microsoft 365 Copilot go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Microsoft 365 Copilot again?

Yes

The premium version of Copilot is fantastic, seriously helping with the heavy lifting of analysing, drafting and improving written content. It connnects across the Microsoft 365 suite of online applications, surfacing information to help it answer questions about the organisation and/or to provide context to develop content for a specific purpose.

It has some limitations caused by incompatible architecture in SharePoint, and often seems to be biased towards surfacing information from documents instead of SharePoint sites.
