Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint

We use it as our main antivirus and EDR solution for all of our endpoints within the company.

Pros

  • It's really good at finding anomalous activity on endpoints, in providing insight on the attack vector, the possible attack vectors for each of those, and it's very responsive. So very quick.

Cons

  • We're pretty happy with the solution currently.
  • It's had a really good impact and actually allowed us to make a better decision to invest more into the product. So we've increased our licensing on that and I think even bought into more things built into Defender, so we've got more add-ons for it to kind of assist us in what we're trying to accomplish.
  • Other
Well, my company's a Microsoft shop, so I think just the desire to stay with one company and have everything under one umbrella is part of that huge decision. So I think that's one of the main things. Other than that, I know Defender for Endpoint has a large market share right now in EDR solutions, and I know the government uses it a lot as well. That was a big factor, knowing that the really secure government entities are using this as their solution. So I mean that kind of proves the use case of it.
20,000 plus. Linux and Windows primarily.
We used to use Symantec's Endpoint Detection and Response Solution, and so that's actually what we replaced with Defender for Endpoint. So it's just lightyears ahead of that one. So personally, I've also used Webroot in the past for an antivirus solution and Kaspersky and things like that. And the fact that it's built into Windows just makes it that much easier to use and again, it's easy to implement.

Do you think Microsoft Defender for Endpoint delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft Defender for Endpoint live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Microsoft Defender for Endpoint again?

Yes

It's an easy-to-implement solution, so I think smaller companies can definitely take advantage of it. I think the confusing part can come with the licensing just because I know it's tied to user licensing a lot. And it may just be that we don't have exposure to the rest of how that licensing works, but from my experience, I know the licensing can be kind of complicated. So if that's ever a concern, then that might be a turnoff for you.
