Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
In our organization we use Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to manage endpoint security across different regions and states. Before Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, we manually installed antivirus on different endpoints. But this was unscalable due to increasing number of peoples in our organization. We switched to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
Pros
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint UI is very human friendly and one can easily use it.
- Microsoft Defender for endpoint agent is very light weight and don't imapct the machine.
Cons
- Microsoft defender for Endpoints doesn't support Linux system very well.
- Sometimes defender agent doesn't install properly, which leaves endpoints at risk or unsecure.
- Using Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, we can manage all the endpoints using single dashboard.
- It doesnt have a noticeable impact on the endpoints running the agent.
- The Linux system in our infrastructure still need extra step to onboard on Microsoft Defender for Endpoints.
- Cloud Solutions
- Integration with Other Systems
We already have a windows enviroment in our enviroment in our system and due to this we wanted to use a solution which integrates properly with the existing system. And windows Defender for Endpoints provides these tools to correctly manage and handles all these.
We are using Defender for servers which includes security on SQL servers and other system. We using the AIR, automated Investigation and response using this we can automate basic remidiation like malware removal on detection etc. We also have exchange security which we manage on the single dashboard.
We are protecting around 5,000 + enpoints manily Windows and windows servers, with around hundreds Android/iOS and bunch of Linux servers. We have recently trying to deboard the macOS devices to Jamf as defender for endpoints is not working as expected.
We started onboarding macOS devices on jamf and started managing it. Because Defender for Endpoint is not working as expected for and compared to price and functionality we are switching from it.
