Defender for Endpoint Review for YOU
Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
As a Managed Service Provider, we use Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, both internally in our organization to manage our endpoints, but we also deploy it to many of our customers to manage their endpoints as well. It allows us to safely and securely manage almost all of the aspects of ours, and their, machines to ensure that they are up to date with patches, software, etc.
Pros
- Allows us to remotely enable BitLocker
- Allows us to remotely wipe machines when a user is terminated
- Allows us to remotely push out new software
Cons
- It can be a complex solution for someone with no experience
- There are a lot of different blades, so consolidating them to a more "single pane of glass" might be helpful
- More pre-built templates to push out to clients based on their needs and size
- Allowed us to move away from other RMM tools to use Defender for Endpoint as our only RMM tool
- Eliminated the need for clunky servers and onsite visits to manage endpoints
- Cut down on costs associated with managing machines
- Cloud Solutions
- Scalability
- Ease of Use
First and foremost, we are a Microsoft Gold Partner, so our priority is always going to be Microsoft products first. That being said, being able to manage endpoints in a purely cloud environment, where enrollment and unenrollment is easy, and not needing to integrate other 3rd party tools, is critical to streamlining our RMM process.
We try to utilize as much of the product as possible. We have many clients using Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, all with different setup scenarios. Some are using it solely for Windows Updates and patches, while others like the BitLocker security for their hard drives, the ability to remotely wipe any machine that is enrolled, and the ability to push out company-approved software to their users.
We primarily use Microsoft Defender for Endpoint for Windows machines, but we do have some MacOS machines on it as well, and we do a small amount of mobile device monitoring, whether it be iOS or Android. Being a Microsoft partner, our strengths are based around Windows devices, but we don't discriminate.
Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is far more robust and easy to use than NinjaOne's RMM tools. Microsoft Defender for Endpoint allows us to easily manage our endpoints, from an almost single pane of glass, whereas Ninja has multiple settings, policies, etc. that are harder to manage. We also like the ability to remotely wipe machines from Defender for Endpoint, which I don't believe Ninja allows us to do.
