Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
We use Microsoft Defender for Endpoint all over our organization as our baseline of defense against viruses and threats on our end user devices. We have over 5000 employees with just as many endpoints, so having a product that's included in our Microsoft licensing at little cost is a great value-add for our company.
Pros
- Detecting traditional viruses
- Detecting new variants of malware
Cons
- Zero day threat protection is pretty weak
- Freeing up the cost of a subscription for basic antivirus protection.
- Scalability
- Integration with Other Systems
- Ease of Use
The fact that it was included in some of our Microsoft licensing already made the choice to use Microsoft Defender for Endpoint a no-brainer. The ease of deployment and low learning curve also made it a clear choice for our corporation that already has enough on its plate and just needs an easy to deploy solution.
We use all the features included except for the vulnerability management portion, as we have another piece of software that does that for us. We are using the basic deployment and scanning capabilities of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint as well as the centrally managed functionality of it. We use all these to easily maintain our Defender installs throughout our company, both with in house users and remote users on our VPN.
We have Microsoft Defender for Endpoint securing at least 3000 end user Windows devices, from laptops to desktops, across our environment.
We use Microsoft Defender for Endpoint along with Crowdstrike on some of our critical systems as it enhances the protection we have for our environment.
