Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft SQL Server

I think, mainly companies are deviating from it because it is expensive compare to another databases. In addition non relational databases are more in use nowadays which keeps this product as less dominant.
But one great thing about MS SQL server is that it is easy to use and all MS platform works together better than any other product.

  • Negative impact i have seen as performance, IT was slow in few cases

I think, MS SQL Server stacks up against them by improving its performance for relational database. Next thing will be to make a bit cheaper. Another think MS should look into non relational database option in top of relational.
I selected MS SQL server in one of the project because I was so comfortable doing anything in it.
MS SQL server is well suited for .NET platform. As per my experience, I have seen it works great with ADO.NET and other libraries too. At the same time isn't suited database when come to read only operation. For example, my recent projects does not need update operation much, so we didn't think to use MS SQL.
