Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM)
DPM is used by our company as a primary backup solution for virtual machines, bare metal backups, file shares and some SQL databases. We have used it for more than 4 years for short-term backups. We got it as a part of Microsoft System Center Suite.
Pros
- Clustered Hyper-V VM backup and restore.
- Easy to have multiple restore points.
- Can back up different workloads with the same solution.
Cons
- Allow long-term backups to disks.
- GUI could have improved performance.
- Short-term backup and restore.
- Possible to have several restore points in the same day.
- All backups managed in a single place.
- Same-day service restore when some SQL databases were corrupted.
- Veeam Backup & Replication
